Pokemon Go Book TAG

Dienstag, 26. Juli 2016

Disclaimer: Pokemon Go belongs to Niantic and Nintendo, please don’t sue me.
Also, all credits for the graphics go to the original creator.

To be honst with you guys, I've never been into Pokemon, never watched the show nor played any of the games until Pokemon GO came around. I was extremely hyped as I waited for it to be out in my country and, if you've checked my twitter, you know I'm OBSESSeD with the game, as is almost anyone right now. if you've somehow not heard of it yet, it's basically an augmented reality Pokemon game where you actually leave the house and walk around to catch Pokemon. Amazing, right? in the first 3 days after downloading it onto my phone I walked like +30km so there's that.
Anyway, when I saw that Aentee aka Reading at Midnight created a book tag for Pokemon Go, I immediately knew I had to check it out and do it, though I've not bee tagged by anyone. So, thank you to Aentee for creating the tag and let's dive right in, shall we?

I chose Bulbasaur just so you know. No idea why it just kind of happened. It wasn't until two days later that I found out there is a way to get Pikachu as starter but it was too late already. I seen a Squirtle on my nearby list but not actually seen it, and Charmander, no sign of him.

I'm probably the odd one out by saying The Legend of the Ice People by Margit Sandemo because no one ever knows what I'm on about when I mention it. I found it at my grandma's house and randomly read the first 12 tomes across two weeks because I just got so into it. Maybe I should read it again some time, see what it was that made me so addicted to it.

I want a Pikachu but wow they are so hard to come by. Props to those who caught one, so jealous really.

Of course I'll be totally original here and say Harry Potter, because Harry Potter.

So far I've caught and seen so many Zubats in my area it's crazy. Anyone else? Then again, the most common ones around me are Pidgeys and Rattatas, but Zubats are closely behind those two. Though I've not come across the evolved version just yet.

When it comes to a book I lost interest in because it's everywhere I actually have two answers, both probably equally unpopular. Number 1 is Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard. This book is really hyped, as are the sequels, but I've just really lost any interest I had at first to read it. I've heard a lot of mixed things about it, my bestie told me I probably won't like it, so this one is very high on my 'probs not gonna read it' list.
A close second is the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas. I've read Throne of Glass and I fairly enjoyed it, but then I started the sequel and lost my interest. Also, let's face it, this series is also everywhere and everyone talk about it and either really loves it or is indifferent toward it. From what I heard where the series is going (Yes, I've actually watched Polandbananasbooks' reviews for all the books...) I'm even less interested in it. I guess high fantasy is just really not my cup of tea.

To be honest, I've pondered bout this question for three days now and the only book that came to my mind was Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins. Don't get me wrong, I LOVED Anna but let's face it, it had a lot of tropes and things we've already seen done numerous times in YA, but, still a cute read tho.

I've not seen a Snorlax yet either, though that's not quite true since I saw someone have it at a Gym, but I've never seen it in my surroundings being actually catchable.

I'm probably the last person in the book community to read this one even though I even got it as audiobook, but yes, I've still not read Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare. I've loved The Infernal Devices, I enjoyed The Mortal Instruments, so I have no idea why I've not made my way through Lady Midnight just yet. I mean, I've started it but only got about 10% in before I stopped to read a book I had for review so...But I hope I'll get around to reading this very soon. But like that size tho, holy.

For some reason Gengars remind me of danisnotonfire and AmazingPhil solely because they have plushy version of it and it was in one of their videos, I think. I don't even know. But I'd really like to catch one.

The last book that has kept me up at night because I simply had to know how the story continues and how it'll end was Life After Juliet by Shannon Lee Alexander. This was an amazing read and worth all the sleeping hours I've sacrificed to read it deep into the night. You should check it out.

So far I've only encountered and captured their smaller versions (bravo me for not remembering what they are called and being too lazy to look it up...fake fan) in both the male and female version.

I have so many OTPs BUT I have three main ones belonging to my favorite standalone, trilogy and series. I can't decide on one single favorite so each of these three has their own one.
Starting with my fave standalone, The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay, which has my OTP Nastya and Josh. That book is amazing and these two are perfect and I just love them so much.
Next up my favorite trilogy is the one I can all of you can name because let's face it I've talked about it at least a thousand times on this blog already - The Mara Dyer Trilogy by Michelle Hodkin. Mara Dyer and Noah Shaw are perfection, fight me. I love Noah so much I even named my laptop after him. That's dedication right here.
And my favorite series (I see people coming after me already for not saying Harry Potter) is Vampire Academy because it's awesome and it has Rose and Dimitri. Dimitri is literally goals right there, just saying.
BONUS: Alec and Magnus from The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. They are my favorite pairing from all her books, because like how could they not be?! Malec are a-maze-ing!

First of all, I love Ponyta and Rapidash, they are legit my fave Pokemon of them all, just saying.

I'm gonna go with Illuminae by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman. This is an outstanding read with a fast pace, thrills and scary moments, and a incredibly unique way of telling the story in terms of formatting. So impossibly cool! You should read it if you haven't yet.

Eevee is so cute and her evolved versions are really cool and I'd totally love to get all of them, but until now I've only seen a total of three Eevees so I guess I'll have to wrap myself in patience.

I'm no not going to surprise anyone with my answer because of course I could never get enough of the Mara Dyer trilogy by Michelle Hodkin, so the fact that there will be a spin-off series makes my heart perform the biggest happy dance ever. Can't wait to read it all!

When I first heard about Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead thanks to th movie trailer I was underwhelmed BUT then I actually watched the movie (and was one of the very few people who actually really like it) and simply had to read it. To my surprise the series quickly became my favorite series of all so theres that.

For this one I'm going to go with the Shadow and Bone trilogy by Leigh Bardugo. The book world is crazy about these books and the Six of Crows duology (?) so I cannot wait to finally get to reading it and finding out what all the hype is about.

The only one that comes to my mind is that amazing edition of Harry Potter in the four house versions because I'd totally want the Slytherin one, because I'm obviously one. Too bad that they are so crazy expensive.

Heres a tiny rant: All the eggs I've so far hatched were all complete crap. Like how even? Each one I hatched was a Pokemon I already had before, and like there was like a Rattata in a 5km one. WHY? Still waiting for my Ponyta, seriously.

A book y a debut author I look forward to is The Weight of Zero by Karen Fortunati even though I've already read it, but I can't wait for others to read it and hopefully love it just as much as I did. It's an absolutely phenomenal book that means the world to me. So much love.

I have a few authors that I love so much that I would just buy anything they write, even like their grocery lists or something, just to have more words from them. Two that I'm going to name will be familiar since I've mentioned them before, and two are new ones so here they are:
Michelle Hodkin (selling my soul to her because Mara Dyer is everything), Sebastian Fitzek (he's the only German author I enjoy reading and his psychological thrillers are just absolutely chilling and goals), Karen Fortunati (a-ma-zing and just such a nice person, I like Karen a lot) and Mia Siegert (brilliant author, amazing words, such an incredibly nice person that has so many helpful things to say and like her current WIP is the best thing ever and I'm so excited that I got to read part of it).

Even though the servers were down in my area a few times, I've actually never seen this screen--lucky me--but as fellow players I know you've most likely encountered it and you know what horrible sight it is, especially when you just REALLY want to play. Though I've spent way to much time with the loading screen, like seriously, we're like frenemies now and I am slowly getting a bit sick of seeing it so much.

I am DYING as I'm waiting for Gemina by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman, the sequel to Illuminae. I LOVED Illuminae last year (here's my review), and I might be getting an ARC of Gemina so I'm beyond excited. I've heard really good things so far so that doesn't help. Must have it. Must read it. NOW.

* * *

And that's it for the Pokemon GO Book Tag. If you want to do this tag, feel yourself tagged by me right now, and if not, I hope you enjoyed reading my answers. Below in the comments, tell me if you play the game and, if so, which team are you?

Hamilton Book TAG

Samstag, 2. April 2016

Welcome to the Hamilton book TAG!
Just like basically everyone else in the book community, I'm obsessed with Hamilton. For
those who don't know, Hamilton is a musical that is basically the big thing right now. Getting tickets is basically impossible since it's just THAT good. It took me a while until I actually checked it out, despite having seen people talk about it on twitter like crazy. But once I checked it out, I can't stop anymore.
This TAG was created by maureenkeavy over on YouTube and I discovered it through polandbananaBOOKS. Of course I immediately thought that I simply have to do it too. So strap yourselves in and let's get this party starting!

   THE QUESTIONS:

   1. The Room Where It Happens: Book world you would put yourself in.
Okay, this is probably my favorite song of the entire musical because of just how upbeat and fun it is, a great song to dance to. But that's not the point.
Okay, the answer I think is definitely a no-brainer, since I'm sure everyone and their grandmother will say this very same one: Harry Potter. I mean, why would you want to live in any other fictional world when you can live in the wonderful world of Harry Potter. And don't tell me I can't pretend I'm 11 so I can go to Hogwarts.

   2. The Schuyler Sisters: Underrated Female Character.
This one was a tricky one because I had the option between going with an obvious or different answer. In the end I think I want to go with the latter, a non-obvious answer. So, I will go with Maddie Freeman from the Awaken trilogy by Katie Kacvinsky. I love her character, love the trilogy, and am really sad that so few people have read it and appreciated her and the world she fights against.

   3. My Shot: A character that goes after what they want and doesn't let anything stop them.
Another one of my favorites from Hamilton. This was actually the first song I ever heard from it during their live stream from the White House.
For this one I'm going to do with Penryn from Angelfall. Throughout the entire book her only focus was finding her sister and she didn't let anyone get in her way of doing just that. There was no getting sidetracked, no forgetting about it for half the book and then being offered some lame quick solution, but it was THE thing on Penry's mind.

   SPOILER WARNING!
   4. Stay Alive: A character you wish was still alive.
Because I don't want to bring up any dramatic spoilers, Allegiant looking at you again, please simply refer to answer #6 for this one, though ONLY if you you're all caught up on BBC Sherlock, or don't care about the show.

   SPOILER WARNING!
   5. Burn: The most heartbreaking end to a relationship you’ve ever read.
This song is beautifully tragic and filled with emotions, I love it.
My answer for this one will definitely be Champion by Marie Lu. I don't even know how to formulate my thoughts for the way this relationship ended.

   6. You'll Be Back: Sassiest villain.
For this one I will just go ahead and take a TV show character, who also happens to be a book character actually, simply because I can and love this character lots. Of course I am talking about the one and only James Moriarty from BBC Sherlock. I love that series, I love Moriarty, I love the actor who plays him and the way he plays him. He is sassy and amazing.

   7. The Reynolds Pamphlet: A book with a twist that you didn’t see coming.
I will not answer this one because, just like Christine (polandbananasBOOKS) I REALLY don't like to know about a twist before going into a book. I want the twist to take me complete by surprise and not be wondering all through the book WHEN it will come. That isn't the point of twists!

   8. Non-stop: A series you marathoned.
The series that comes to my mind, besides my usual answer being the Mara Dyer Trilogy by Michelle Hodkins, is the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead. I bought this one maybe a week before my mock exams, which might have not been my wisest move, and one I picked up the first book, I felt myself unable to stop until I was done with all six of them. My grades ended up pretty good despite that, so there was no damage done.

   9. Satisfied: Favorite book with multiple POVs.
   Love, love, LOVE this song.
I'm not quite sure if this book counts, but I will just pretend it does for the time being, and say Illuminae by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman. This book blew my mind while I read it and I am anticipating the sequel like nothing else because I HAVE to know how the story continues. If you've not read this one yet, definitely give it a chance even though it's a massive book. The audiobook is also truly amazing with a while number of different voice actors reading the different characters. So good!

   10. Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story: A book/series you feel like will be remembered throughout history.
As much as I would LOVE to say the Mara Dyer trilogy by Michelle Hodkin, Some Boys by Patty Blout or The Weight of Zero by Karen Fortunati, we all know the one and only true answer to this question is Harry Potter, because Harry Potter. No need for further explanation.

And that was it, that was the Hamilton Book TAG. I had so much fun doing it, and of course listening to Hamilton while answering because that's just a must and a given. What are your thoughts on Hamilton? If you do this TAG, leave a link in the comments below or tweet it at me (@Alice_Reeds) so I can check out your answers!

The Unlucky Number 69

Donnerstag, 14. Januar 2016

Welcome to this rather sad post.
Today I will not be talking about some book I read, a movie I watched, or even discuss the pros and  cons of fan fiction. Today I'm here to talk about two brilliant men who died at 69. Both were British and both died due to cancer. I know I usually never write about famous people who died, but these two, they are dear to me, dear to my family, so I think it would be wrong of me not to write something.

Let me start with David Bowie who died on Sunday, January 10th 2016, only two days after turning 69 due to cancer. He was a brilliant musician who changed the course of music history, was brave enough to embrace his weird side and show all of us that being weird, different then everybody else, is more then okay. He broke the rules of gender, appearing almost androgyne on stage, but he never looked silly, like a caricature, while doing so. His music was outworldly, just like he himself, a Starman who didn't seem human.
Personally, I've never considered myself a fan, rarely listened to his music, despite knowing many of his songs well, yet his passing had a big impact on me. David Bowie was before my time, yet I can see the value of everything he'd done and impact he had on everyone around me and on music. I come from a family of artists, my mother said that Bowie greatly influenced her, and her generation, that back in the times when Poland was hidden away behind the iron curtain, Bowie was the symbol of everything that waited on the other side, the crazy, colorful world that seemed so unreachable to everyone on else who wasn't on that side of the curtain. When news broke that he'd passed away, she told me she feels as if a loved person died, someone you know, even though you've never met them. Many people I follow on twitter said that it felt as if your first love died, your first celebrity crush.
Hauptstrasse 155, Berlin
Two days ago I visited the street in Berlin where Bowie used to live and found myself amongst a smilier pictures to that we've seen from Brixton, London. People standing on the sidewalk, singing Bowie songs together, putting down flowers, pictures, messages and candles, honoring this man who did so much. I found myself crying amongst them, touched by the impact he had on the people, surprised to find not only people my age, but also elderly ones bringing flowers or singing, sharing memories. I heard the people of Berlin started a petition to rename the street he'd lived on after him, which I think is a beautiful gesture which I hope will go through.

Next I want to talk about the second man who died, the news came today: Alan Rickman died at 69 due to cancer. When I saw a post about this on Instagram, I swear I though someone was making a really dumb joke, I hoped it was just a joke, but once I went on google I realized that it wasn't a joke at all. I was shocked and speechless, I still am, tears pooling in my eyes.
The first thought that came to my head was a quote he once said about Harry Potter about how, when he'll be eighty years old, he'll be sitting in his rocking chair reading the Harry Potter books even after all this time. Immediately I thought that now, unfortunately, it will never happen.
As weird as it may sound, seeing as I belonged to the Harry Potter generation, the first memory of Alan Rickman I have isn't actually of him playing Snape, but Hans Gruber in Die Hard. It is one of my absolute favorite movies and he was perfect for the role. Then, of course, he was Snape, an iconic role that was written for him, as if it were his alter ego, natural and brilliant. I loved the way he played Snape, especially since Snape was one of my favorite characters along with Tom Felton as Draco, because I have a thing for the "villains".
Alan Rickman has played many amazing roles in his life, was a outstanding actor and just seemed like a wonderful person, though I'm sad that I never got to meet him in person, like many others. We've lost a wonderful actor and someone who was part of so many childhoods. It is hard to believe that he is truly gone, and it saddens me even more since it is a sign that slowly other actors with whom we grew up will follow, a thought that brings tears to my eyes, our icons dying away, leaving our world.

Before I will melt into a puddle I will end this post. I am deeply saddened by the loss of David Bowie and Alan Rickman. May they rest in peace!

Top 5 Wednesday - Books over 500 Pages

Mittwoch, 26. November 2014

Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Lainey & Mindy. Check out the Goodreads page here!

This week we are talking about chunky books with more than 500 pages. This is an interesting one because I'm not too sure if I have many of those, at least not in English. The thing with German books, or those translated into German, is that due to the language they are always way longer then the originals so maybe I will have to cheat a little. We'll see! Again, no particular order here.

#1 The Evolution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin - 546 Pages
This book. Just this book! It's awesome but the end. Oh the end it gets me every time. So many feels and tears and just I cannot even. This book has the perfect length and just leaves you wanting the final book, The Retribution of Mara Dyer, asap. If you pick up the books now they are already all out so you can marathon them and won't know the awful suffering of waiting a year for the last book to come out. Lucky you.

#2 Last Sacrifice by Richelle Mead - 588 Pages
Again, a great final book to a outstanding Vampire series. So many feels, so much action and just so much going on. Perfect.

#3  Battle Royal by Koushun Takami - 617 Pages
So violent and so bloody. It's been a while since I last read this one or watched the movie but it was a good one even though I have to admit I did struggle a bit with the names.

#4 Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare - 576 Pages
What an ending to a phenomenal trilogy. Beautifully crafted and just perfect. I did tear up a little a few times but all in all this was a great read and a perfect ending to The Infernal Devices Trilogy.

#5 Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by JK Rowling - 870 Pages
Longest book shortest movie. Weird. But I think this one was one of my favorite Harry Potter books, close behind Deathly Hallows. But it truly is crazy long. In German it is even longer - 1080 pages in hardcover.

Top 5 Wednesday - Rebellion Groups

Mittwoch, 19. November 2014

Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Lainey & Mindy. Check out the Goodreads page here!

This week we are talking about Rebellion groups and honestly this si a really hard one. But, let's try and find 5. As always, these are in no particular order.

#1 Mockingjay - The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins
To many spoilery spoilers could happen if I explained this one in more detail so let me just tell you one thing: they are awesome. Read the books. Do it. And then watch the movies.

#2 Real Life vs. Digital School - Awaken Trilogy by Katie Kacvinsky
In Maddie Freeman's future America everything is done digitally. School, shopping, socializing and even going for a walk or ballroom dancing. No one meets in real life anymore. But, there is a movement which wants real life back and those guys are amazing. This Trilogy totally holds out a mirror to show us just how many things are currently going wrong and how it could possibly end up one day. Amazing.

#3 Anti-Slating - Slated Trilogy by Teri Terry
Slating is a process done to teenagers before they turn 16, I believe, when they show criminal behavior. What it does? It erases everything. Your personality, your memories and everything else. Once you are slated it's all gone and you have to learn everything once more. It's horrible. But, luckily there are people out there who stand up against it and the way this story unfolds over the trilogy is absolutely amazing.

#4 Rebels vs Rose - Hunting Freedom Trilogy by Alice Reeds
The Rose is the new government which was set up 44 years ago after the world went to hell during war. The Rose provides it all: safety, education and a place for everyone to live and work at. It might all seem nice and dandy but there are other out in the shadows who know that reality is not quite as pretty as it might seem on the outside.

#5 Dumbledores Army - Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling
The one is probably the most obvious choice on this list because how could I not include this iconic group of students who stood up against that wicked woman, Umbridge, and gave the students of Hogwarts until the last book.

Your Bookish Identity TAG

Montag, 6. Oktober 2014

   Hey guys!
This TAG was originally created by LittleBookOwl over on her BookTube channel but I decided that instead of filming a response I will simply write about it on here. That is simply because I've been filming so many TAGs lately yet I didn't post that much on here.

   THE QUESTIONS:
   - What dystopian/fantastical world would you live in?
Okay, let's be real for a second. Who would at their right mind want to live in a dystopian world? I mean would you like to live in District 12 or the Divergent version of Chicago? I don't think so. I wouldn't want it either so I'm going to go with a fantastical world, which I guess I'm going to be super uncreative in answering, because I would like to live in the Harry Potter world and go to Hogwarts (just like anybody else who grew up with Harry Potter or simply has ever read the series) and meet all the awesome Harry Potter characters and learn magic and all that cool stuff. I mean who wouldn't?

   - Who would your partner be?
Do I really need to answer that question once again? I mean I've talked about HIM so many times already that I am sure you all know who I will name but okay.
Brace yourself for no surprise here: Dimitri Belikov from the Vampire Academy Series. I mean he is Russian (yes!) which also means he has that amazing Russian accent (double yes!), he is really tall (yes!), he has long hair (I'm a total all for that so hell yes!), he is mean, sarcastic and grumpy (hell yes!) and he is just a total badass. What did I tell you, no surprise here, like at all. He is and will ever be my fictional husband, which I think we've established already a long time ago.

   - Who would be your godly mother/father? [Percy Jackson]
Can I be honest with you guys for a second? Yes? Okay, because I need to confess that I have actually never read the Percy Jackson Series. Like ever. I mean I watched the first movie but like it just didn't throw me off my feet and I couldn't get myself to read the books so yeah. Sorry. Please don't hate me.

   - Would you be a downworlder or nephilim? [Shadowhunter world]
As awesome as being a Nephilim must be, I don't feel like I could really risk my life over and over and over again to hunt down yet another daemon that crawled into our world. Therefore I think I would rather be a Downworlder, or to be a little more specific, I think I would be a Vampire. I mean I already sleep was too little and my eyes dislike bright sunlight. And, if I would be a Vampire I wouldn't have to sleep at all which means I would have so much more time for reading and writing. Just imagine how many books I could read or write. So yeah I think I would totally be a Vampire. But not a sparkly one.

   - Which house would you be in? [Harry Potter]
Slytherin, like obviously. I mean even Pottermore told me I belong there. And I know that the students from Slytherin are like supposed to be the evil ones whom you should not want to be but I just feel like that is the place for me. Gryffindor is simply overrated. Besides that I love the color green and, I'm quoting a friend on this one, I'm an evil mastermind so therefore I am perfect for Slytherin.

   - Which faction would you be in? [Divergent]
Well, I think the only one I would fit in at least a bit is, no surprise here, Dauntless, like probably anybody else who answered this question ever. But in all honesty I could never be in Amity or Candor like I wouldn't manage a day with the people from the other factions because that is just not who I am. I mean I'm surely not a very fit and sporty person like Dauntless are supposed to be but hey I could hit the gym if I wanted to, right?

   - What would be your daemon? [Northern Lights]
So I had to google this one because I had no clue which series this is or what the deal is with the daemon BUT I found it and now I know. So, the daemon is a creature that is supposed to reflect on your inner being so maybe I could be like a wolf? I mean I love wolves and they are just the best and I feel like I have like a inner wolf. And yes i know that just made me sound crazy of some sorts but that isn't anything knew now is it?

And that is it for this TAG. Feel free to go and do it too (if you do leave a comment below with a link or something so I can check it out) and also check out LittleBookOwl's video.

   Cheerio!

Questions for a Reader

Samstag, 23. August 2014

   Hey guys!
So I saw this little survey/question thing over at Bookables blog and thought it looks like fun so I want to do it too. Hope you'll find it interesting!
   Let's go!

1. Which book has been on your shelves the longest?

I would say this has to be my German copy of Happy Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling which I've had for the past 10 years, I think.

2. What is your current read, your last read and the book you'll read next?

A few days ago I finished My Soul to Lose by Rachel Vincent. Currently I'm reading My Soul to Take by the same author and depending on if I'll enjoy it, I might continue the series and read My Soul to Save. If I end up not enjoying it I might read finally read Cinder by Marissa Mayer which has been waiting to be read on my shelve for way too long.

3. What book did everyone like and you hated?

I think there are two potential answers to this question. For one there would be Uglies by Scott Westerfeld which I totally couldn't get into. I read a trilogy written by him before and enjoyed it a lot but somehow Uglies just really didn't do it for me. Somehow it was too predictable, at least the first 30% which made me put the book down. And another book that everyone seems to like yet I totally can't get into or enjoy is The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patric Ness. I've heard a ton of good things about that one and I tried to read it but I just couldn't. Maybe I'll try again one day.

4. Which book do you keep telling yourself you'll read, but you probably won't?

The Space Between by Kristie Cook. When I first bought it I was really pumped to read it but by now I'm not really sure if I'm still interested in it.

5. Which book are you saving for "retirement"?

The Game of Thrones books by George R. R. Martin. I absolutely love the TV series and I promised myself that one day I'll read all of the books but they are just so huge and intimidating.

6. Last page: read it first or wait till the end?

I always wait until the end to read the last page. Not without a reason it's the last page. I just don't like knowing how the book will end.

7. Acknowledgements: waste of ink and paper or interesting aside?

Depending on the author I actually sometimes read the acknowledgements, maybe just because I would like people to read mine. Not that they are interesting or anything, but if an author bothered to write them, why not read them. Mostly it's just a page or two so it won't even take long.

8. Which book character would you switch places with?

Hermione Granger, because she's awesome and smart. Or Rose Hathaway from Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead because Dimitri Belicov, that's enough explaining.

9. Do you have a book that reminds you of something specific in your life (a person, a place, a time)?

How about Awaken by Katie Kacvinsky which introduced me to the world of dystopian novels and made me fall in love with it like nothing before.

10. Name a book you acquired in some interesting way.

I acquire most of my book via Amazon, which ain't really interesting but a few years ago I was visiting a antiques store in Poland which also sold used books. There I happened to find a really nice copy of Happy Potter and the Deathly Hollows. Despite it being a used copy it still looks really nice and I just love it.

11. Have you ever given away a book for a special reason to a special person?

    Sure!

12. Which book has been with you to the most places?

Midnighters: Blue Noon by Scott Westerfeld. I took that book with me to Budapest two years ago and before that also to Poland. Now it looks extremely beaten, has a completely broken spine and it's just really sad to look at but I still love it.

13. Any "required reading" you hated in high school that wasn't so bad ten years later?

I just finished school so I have to wait another 10 years to answer that question. But if I'd have to give a better answer I'd say A Wild Sheep Chase by Haruki Murakami. I read this book for English about 3 years ago. While reading it at school I really didn't like it, but now I actually think it's a decent book.

14. What is the strangest item you've ever found in a book?

    Not sure.

15. Used or brand new?

I prefer brand new but I don't mind used books. I own about 12 used books.

16. Stephen King: Literary genius or opiate of the masses?

A genius through and through. Love his books.

17. Have you ever seen a movie you liked better than the book?

Warm Bodies. The movie was better than the book, though maybe I only think that way because I've seen the movie before reading the book. I don't know.

18. Conversely, which book should NEVER have been introduced to celluloid?

    No clue.

19. Have you ever read a book that's made you hungry, cookbooks being excluded from this question?

About any book that features cupcakes, Mexican food or cake.

20. Who is the person whose book advice you'll always take?

That's a hard one. Most of my friends don't read or if they do, they have a completely different taste in books then I do.

And that was it. Hope you liked it and feel free to take those questions onto your blog and answer them. Leave me a link to it in the comments if you do because I'm curious.

Cheerio!
